Amit B. Patel, MD is a native of the Midwest growing up in Owensboro, Kentucky. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Transylvania University in 1999. Dr. Patel then continued his education attending the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he graduated with honors. After medical school, he completed an internship in General Surgery in 2004 followed by four years of specialized surgical training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he was elected to serve as chief administrative resident. During his training, he developed detailed knowledge and expertise in anatomy and surgery of the head, face, and neck. Dr. Patel has chosen a career in Facial Plastic Surgery as the culmination of his surgical training.
Dr. Patel has published many peer-reviewed articles in medical journals, written several chapters for facial plastic surgery textbooks, served as contributing editor for a textbook on Botox injection techniques, and presented lectures to other surgeons related to facial plastic surgery. He plans to continue his love for research and writing by contributing new ideas and techniques for the advancement of his speciality and by staying active in local as well as national medical societies.
In an effort to enhance his skills, Dr. Patel looks forward to working with and learning from Stephen W. Perkins, MD, a world-renowned leader in the field of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Following his fellowship year, Dr. Patel has plans to open his own practice dedicated to cosmetic facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
